Women and Political Movements in America

Students will learn and discuss the ventures of women of color during different political movements.

In the first class, students will learn about women of color who lead the women’s suffrage movement in the US. We will read some of their writing and discuss their lives. The next class we’ll talk about women in the climate change and environmental justice movements and their writing, social media presences, and speeches. The final two classes, students will vote on what movements they want to talk about and curriculum will be shaped around their responses.

*Please register for both Tuesday and Friday classes (April 14, 17, 21, and 24). These are the dates for the same section of the course. Each section meets 4 times. The course has 4 sessions over the span of 2 weeks.
